Call for Participants: Step Heights on the London Underground

We are currently conducting research at PEARL to determine the most suitable stair height for reducing the risk of falls on the London underground. This study involves an experiment where participants will climb stairs of different heights while wearing pressure insoles and being monitored by a motion capture system.

We have filled most of the places with people who are over 60, through age UK. Now we are looking for participants aged 18-40 to fill the remaining places on a first come, first serve basis. Ideally, responders should usually use the steps on the London underground.

The experiments will be on 28th and 29th June 2023 at the UCL PEARL in Dagenham. The entire experiment will take approximately 1 hour to complete. Participants will be paid £20 for their participation plus £10 to help cover the cost of travel. Details on how to reach us can be found here.

Please direct emails to Derrick at derrick.boampong@ucl.ac.uk if you are interested in participation.

Please see the information sheet below for more detail on the experiment.
